HOW IT WORKS

Living with specific challenges or difficulties is very different from knowing how to live with them successfully and facing challenges like ADHD, addiction or personal conflict alone can often feel like being put in a boat in the open water without being taught how to sail. To give patients every opportunity to successfully navigate their challenges and live brighter lives, all patients new to the Adolescent & Family Health Center receive a comprehensive intake assessment that includes gathering information on all five of life’s major performance areas: medical, emotional, social, educational, and vocational. With your permission, we obtain histories and records from schools, family members, and other relevant professionals. The intake assessment and other gathered data gives us insight into each patient’s specific circumstances and enhances our abilities to provide the most effective:

  • MEDICAL EVALUATION AND MONITORING
  • PSYCHOLOGICAL OR PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION
  • EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT
  • ADVOCACY REGARDING EDUCATIONAL MATTERS
  • STUDY AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING
  • CONSULTATION AND LIASON SERVICES
  • INDIVIDUAL GROUP AND MARITAL COUNSELING
  • OUTPATIENT TREATMENT OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY
  • STRESS AND ANGER MANAGEMENT
  • CHILD THERAPY
  • COUPLES & MARRIAGE COUNSELING

LIVING A BRIGHTER FUTURE

For Example, depending upon their intake assessment, a patient seeking medical treatment for ADHD may also receive any combination of the following:

  • INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY COUNSELING
  • AN EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT OR PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION
  • THE ADVOCACY OF A PSYCHOLOGIST AT THEIR SCHOOL OR COLLEGE
  • SOCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

By providing access to a wide spectrum of treatment options tailored specifically to the individual, patients gain the understanding, tools, confidence, identity, knowledge, and the ability to successfully manage school, work, peer, personal, and family relationships.
